Jane Brady is a full-time lecturer at Utah Valley University and has served as adjunct faculty at Brigham Young University since 1999. She is also the production editor for the Faith and Imagination Institute In recognition of her teaching, she received the JoAnn Britsch Teaching Excellence Award in 2008 as Honors 150 Teacher of the Year and was honored with the KSL Utah Teacher Feature in 2010 She has been teaching ACT Prep since 2017.

Joe Cochran holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Utah State University. He currently teaches in the College of Religious Education at Brigham Young University. Since 2020, he has worked as an ACT Prep Instructor, teaching reading and science across dozens of sessions in seven different states. He served a mission in Mexico City and still craves authentic tacos al pastor to this day! When he isn't immersed in teaching, Joe loves to be out hiking or training for triathlons.

Dr. Lawson teaches advanced writing and literature courses at BYU. She has taught at BYU for about 15 years and has also taught at five other universities. Additionally, she has worked in private industry, writing and editing in the tech sector. 

Makaela Markham is a math instructor living in Syracuse, Utah, with her husband and three children. She graduated with a Secondary Mathematics Education degree from Southern Utah University in 2012 and has been teaching with BYU Test Prep for over 12 years. After teaching for several years at Timpanogos High School, she now teaches in the Developmental Math Department at Weber State University. Makaela absolutely loves teaching math! She is dedicated to making math more accessible and helping her students feel confident in their math abilities. 

Annie McBride has been helping students succeed on standardized tests since 2014. She teaches all ACT subjects and especially enjoys teaching ACT Math and watching light bulbs turn on as students grasp or remember key concepts. Annie began her career with Kaplan Test Prep in 2017, teaching SAT prep classes to youth from underserved communities in Philadelphia and Connecticut. Since 2022, she has been an instructor with BYU Test Prep, where she finds it rewarding to see her students’ hard work open doors for their futures. Annie holds an undergraduate degree in Violin Performance and a Master of Public Administration, both from BYU. She lives in Provo with her husband, three kids, and two cats.

Catherine Matthews Pavia earned her BA in English and her MA in Rhetoric and Composition from BYU, and her PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She teaches rhetoric and composition classes at BYU and has taught at UMass Amherst, ASU, and BYU–Idaho. She has also edited in a freelance capacity for many years, including for the Liahona magazine and for Houghton Mifflin. She and her husband, Joe, have four children.

Rochelle Plott was born and raised in Utah. She graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Mathematics Education and a minor in Physics Teaching. Her master's degree is from National University in California. Rochelle has taught middle school and high school math and science classes for over 24 years and has taught ACT Prep classes for over 12 years. She loves to travel and hopes to one day visit each of the continents (well, maybe not Antarctica). In her free time, Rochelle bakes (usually cupcakes), reads (she loves historical fiction), eats ice cream (peanut butter is her weakness), and grades homework (the never-ending job of a teacher). Teaching is her calling in life, but if Rochelle couldn't be a teacher, she would be a nuclear physicist or own a bakery.

Mark Summers is a teacher at Karl G. Maeser Preparatory Academy, where he teaches math, coaches volleyball, and runs the First Robotics team.

Kristi Vander Wilt lives in Saratoga Springs with her husband, Peter, and their five energetic boys. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from Utah Valley University and also completed graduate-level coursework there. She taught at Timpanogos High School for eight years, primarily teaching AP Calculus, and has a passion for working with teenagers. For the past four years, she has taught ACT Prep, combining her love of math and learning with the flexibility to be home with her busy boys. Kristi loves helping students see that math doesn’t have to be scary and hopes they leave her lessons with the confidence that they can do hard things.   

Ryan Williams was born and raised in rural Utah and completed his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University in English Teaching. He then earned a graduate degree from the University of Phoenix in Curriculum and Instruction. Ryan has been teaching English, creative writing, and yearbook for 22 years in the Nebo School District and has also been an instructor with BYU Independent Study and BYU Test Prep for a little over a decade. He currently lives in Utah County, is married to his beautiful wife of almost 19 years, and has three children. Ryan loves to hike, travel, and try new things. He still hopes to be a successful novelist when he grows up. Ryan’s highest professional goal is to empower students to be successful in ways that go beyond grades and scores.
